Even when an MIS does not support JDF, job information can still be integrated with iCE LiNK when the required data can be exported as CSV. iCE LiNK CSV Job Processor is a workflow integration utility for iCE LiNK Enterprise that converts and validates existing MIS CSV output into a format that can be used by iCE LiNK, supporting both initial integration and day-to-day operation.
Job Integration Without Requiring JDF Support in the MIS
JDF is an effective way to connect production management systems with postpress workflows, but not every MIS provides JDF output. Adding JDF support can also require significant system modification, development effort and cost.
iCE LiNK can use CSV-based job information for job registration and management. If an MIS can export the required information—such as order number, quantity, due date, process and assigned device—as CSV, job information can be connected to iCE LiNK while continuing to use the existing MIS.
CSV job registration in iCE LiNK does not require MIS CSV data to be converted to JDF. The CSV is prepared and validated according to the iCE LiNK CSV Job Specification and registered as iCE LiNK job data. For integration with a DFE supported by Printer Dashboard, the required job information can also be converted into the format required by the DFE, allowing printer jobs to be managed in iCE LiNK.
